We are a family of 5 along with partners who have over the last few years been fortunate enough to be able to enjoy several amazing holidays in both Europe and the Caribbean. That being said we have all agreed we have just had our best holiday EVER in the last week at Villa Octavius . We arrived in the dark so could not at that point fully appreciate the view - Steve and Monica met us and gave us a tour of the villa and as we were tired said they would show us anything else we could need during our stay the following day. We awoke to a panoramic view that was amazing and definitely distracted us from the books I had taken to read. It was also very much a case of the photographs do not show fully just how beautiful the villa and its grounds are and the absolute attention to details that have been taken in making it so beautiful. Also we had been left everything you could have required until we could go shopping including cold drinks, beers and wine and an amazing fruit basket which lasted all week ! Each bedroom had it's own character but all were lovely and spacious and the hammock tower with seating also makes the most of the views. We had an unforgettable day out in a boat where Steve took us around the islands ,swimming in caves , we stopped for a brilliant meal at a lovely restaurant and my daughter particularly liked handling the octopus he found to show us. All in all we have brought home many special memories from this week and cannot wait to go back which we have already arranged for next year.

Wow wow wow!

We have just returned from our one week stay at Villa Octavius which we booked for 10 people for our wedding in Lefkada. I cannot possibly give a higher recommendation to Villa Octavius and it’s owners Steve and Monika who have hosting down to a fine art. Everything was perfect, from the beauty of the immaculately appointed villa, to the jaw-dropping views of Nidri and the surrounding areas which stretch for miles. The Villa has everything you could wish for and more. Particular highlights for us were the Hammock Tower, the wireless Sonos system which allows you to stream different music to different areas of the villa from your phone, the huge outside terrace with seating area, deep swimming pool, hot tub, braai bbq and fire pit. We were made to feel so welcome on arrival, with wedding bows on the front gates, a fridge pre-stocked with beers, wine, bubbles and water, a huge basket of fresh fruit and a guided tour of the villa and all of its intricacies. In addition to this there are so many little touches that add to the experience; a comprehensive list of food delivery and taxi services that serve the Villa, a very reasonably priced wine cabinet which supports local businesses by selling wine produced on the island and a ‘replace what you use’ mini bar. Steve uses a notice board system to attend to any questions or issues quickly without disturbance to your stay, it all just works so seamlessly and you feel at home immediately. We didn’t want to leave! Steve also offers bespoke snorkelling and star gazing amongst other tours/trips which we didn’t have time for on this occasion but would definitely consider for future visits. Thanks Steve and Monika for a wonderful stay and for providing a perfect location for our pre-wedding preparations, we will definitely be back.

Our fifth visit , our hosts are as brilliant as ever . The location and view are as beautiful as before. Steve and Monica have tastefully refurbished our bedroom with a new luxury bed and an elegant original artwork . The planting in the grounds has matured and we are more than ever noticing the fauna especially the humming-bird hawk moths busily feeding from the flowerbeds. Breakfast on the terrace and afternoon swims in the pool have not lost their magic and now we have the addition of the magnificent new canopy over the fire pit area.

We only managed a week in Lefkada - nowhere near long enough to do justice to the island - but Octavius is the ideal base. If anything, too ideal; the facilities, decor, comfort, cleanliness, views and atmosphere of the villa were so good that there was no incentive to leave. But Steve - villa owner, local expert, passionate about marine life in general and Octopi in particular, and tour guide of the stars (astrological variety) suggested such excellent outings / sights / restaurants that even the four 20 year olds in our party were enthused. And when we did venture out, returning to the villa was like coming home. In short, an exceptional villa in an exceptional location. We will return to both as soon as we can!

The villa is stunning, with a phenomonal view of nidri! The villa is spacious enough for eight people to hang around and nit getting into anyone's way!! We loved the jacuzzi at night, had a lovely braai twice and really enjoyed cooking in the lovely kitchen!! This villa is a definite must and we can't wait to come and check out the new villa that is being built!! What an fantastic holiday!!! Thanks so much!! Xxx

A fantastic luxury Villa

This villa is exceptional, it has everything you could possibly want in a holiday rental. Beautifully appointed throughout and very spacious. We didn't want to leave at the end of the week.

Having never returned to the same holiday destination twice in 40+ years we have just booked to return for two weeks next year. As a family of 5 plus a friend, including three adult children in their twenties, this villa provided us everything we wanted…
Having never returned to the same holiday destination twice in 40+ years we have just booked to return for two weeks next year. As a family of 5 plus a friend, including three adult children in their twenties, this villa provided us everything we wanted - plenty of space; fully equipped kitchen; well appointed bathrooms with decent showers; really comfortable beds (Lenny Henry would approve); plenty of space around a deep pool with sun shades if required; covered outdoor eating area with a table large enough to host the second sitting of the last supper; a fire pit to relax around into the evening - complete privacy yet close to some great restaurants - one within walking distance and others a short taxi or drive away in the busy but small town of Nidri. What really makes the villa different and special is the owner, Steve (British/New Zealander) and Monica, live in a villa beneath and are not intrusive at all but are close by if local advise is needed or anything is required. So much to see locally we didn't really start to fully explore the island, however I do recommend at least one day out boating - Trident Boats provided a modern well equipped motor boat, at a very reasonable price, which enabled us to go around the other islands locally - some have great water side restaurants where you can tie up outside. Other musts are Starman Steve's evening boat cruise (featuring the villa's owner) which includes food and wine and a really interesting introduction to star gazing; and a visit to the local restaurant Kato Rahoula Nouvell Restaraunt, where the food is great and Friday evening is live music night. Having a car is highly desirable for this villa although a good local taxi service does mean it is not essential.

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! AGAIN!

We have been travelling together for 26 years and this is the very first time my partner and I have ever been back to exactly the same place until now! I think that says it all! The owner designed this villa himself and he has put so much love and attention into it. It is filled with genuine antiques from all over the world, so fascinating and incredible and it also feels like home the minute you step into it. Steve and Monica make you feel so welcome and they do everything possible to make your holiday as wonderful as possible. The outside area has a gorgeous octagonal shaped pool, with a very large dining table and a fire table all with incredible views looking over the countryside and the Ionian Sea. Down a few steps and there is a lovely hot tub with views of the mountains. All The gardens are absolutely gorgeous full of colourful flowers and trees. So much work has obviously gone into these gardens alone! We noticed that a few things has been changed this time, a new bed in the blue room and a fantastic handmade wooden carved picture on the wall above the bed. Steve said that he likes to change something every year because so many people return to the villa every year and he wants them to see something different! Wow! Tthe location is also great with only a 5 minute drive into Nidri that has lots of lovely Tavernas. We went to so many different ones this year than last year and they were all great with excellent service. There is also a lovely taverna just a few minutes from the villa. All the information you need about the area is in the villa including booking a massage in the villa in the amazing Hammock tower room which we both had by a lady called Karen - highly recommended! There is also a Sonos music system there which we loved! Music in any room we wanted including around the poolside and the hammock room. All in all another wonderful holiday. We can't say enough wonderful things about this place. Thank you Steve and Monica and a huge well done for making your villa so special. We feel very privileged and so so glad that we came back.

Paradise on Lefkada

My wife and I stayed at Villa Octavius in early October with 3 other couples (family and friends). The property is absolutely top-notch with a beautiful pool area, patio and kitchen. It has a fantastic view of the city of the Nidri and the nearby islands. Our host, Steve, was very attentive and engaging. Highlights of our stay include Steve taking us on a boat tour of the nearby islands and going snorkeling and catching a live octopus. Steve is also very good amateur astronomer, and he treated us to an evening of star gazing. We very much hope to return to Villa Octavius some day.

We have stayed at Villa Octavius now for the last 5 years and it never ceases to provide a relaxing and truly glorious stay. The facilities provided are second to none we have ever encountered. Those extra touches really do contribute to a truly great stay. Both Steve and Monica make one feel so welcome and are attentive to guest needs without being intrusive in any way. Each year we have stayed here we can see the continuing efforts to maintain and enhance the beautiful villa. This year Steve has added his new skill of sculptures made from wire. We shall be back without doubt, and look forward to it.

Villa Octavius has a commanding view over Nidri and from the dining area you just get a panoramic view of the islands in the bay including Skorpios, Sparti and Madouri. Also there is a Jacuzzi on the inland side to relax in. Furthermore if you are a Sonos user I think that this is the only place in the world with a Sonos Zone "Hammock Tower", how cool is that! Steve took us on the marine adventure which our youngest loved especially finding a couple of baby Octopus. From the point of restaurants there is one about 500m walk away but we found that the using taxis to/from Nidri was only €8 so no bother at all. The welcome pack actually included enough snacks and drinks to last a day or so anyway so there was no rush to get to a supermarket. The kitchen is also very well equipped so you have everything you need to cook a good meal (often I find that villas are short of kitchen kit but not here). I would add some unusual extras, the Jacuzzi was emptied and refilled to ensure nice and clean, we had beach and pool towels, dishwasher tabs, washing machine tabs, cool box were all included. Steve also showed my oldest daughter how to make metal wire puff balls for her GCSE art homework. I recommend this to anyone but a little bit of me wants to keep it quiet.....

We were back again this year after a glorious holiday last year, and it was even better than before! The villa itself is gorgeous, with many large rooms and plenty of space to relax. The swimming pool was immaculate and the views from the balcony and hammock tower are absolutely spectacular. I can strongly recommend the day boat outing with Steve to the surrounding coves, caves, islands and beaches. This was definitely the highlight of the trip. Thank you Steve and Monica for another wonderful week in paradise!

We travelled to Villa Octavius at the end of September in a party of 6. This was our 4 year at the Villa and it never fails to meet every expectation both in service from Steve and Monica and the facilities to hand. We generally love the Island of Lefkas and staying at the Villa makes the experience all the more enjoyable. The Villa offers the views of the Bay at Nidri that are breathtaking no matter what time of day. Morning sunrises are spectacular. The Villa itself offers something for every visitor no matter what walk of life, from the pool to the hot tub, outside and inside dining, TV in the lounge to computer facilities in the office area, large kitchen and BBQ facilities, bedrooms with every need and a Hammock tower for simply relaxing. What more could anyone want. Steve is always willing to offer assistance in trips out, where to go and what to do if you want to, and his boat trips offer a fantastic day out. We have already booked for next year and cant wait for the time to come around.

Our group of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids) stayed at the Villa Octavius for our fall Holiday at the end of October. It was hands down the best vacation home we have rented. Steve was an amazing host, the communication prior to our arrival was helpful. The villa was stunning to say the least! There was a beautiful welcome basket waiting for us upon arrival. The view from the porch was breathtaking. The pool was immaculate, the house was spotless. We felt welcomed right away. Steve took us out for a day adventure on his boat to snorkel and I would suggest you do not pass up this opportunity. One of the best days ever! I can honestly say that no one in our group was ready to leave.

It's hard to add more to the superlatives of all the previous reviews. They really weren't exaggerating! We arrived and were welcomed at the door by the owners, Steve and Monica. Steve's guided tour of the villa revealed that the camera didn't lie…
It's hard to add more to the superlatives of all the previous reviews. They really weren't exaggerating! We arrived and were welcomed at the door by the owners, Steve and Monica. Steve's guided tour of the villa revealed that the camera didn't lie. The villa is as stunning as it looks in the pictures - if anything the pictures don't do the views from the villa or the villa itself justice. Each room is tastefully decorated and furnished with original, unique and beautiful furniture. We've stayed in Mediterranean villas before and it has felt like the owners opted for a minimum spec. That is not the case here at all. Every room offers a new view and theme, but the quality is consistent. It is clear that a lot of thought has gone into the facilities to ensure your stay is as convenient as possible - and so Octavius goes above and well beyond the minimum. The kitchen is well stocked both with food prep equipment and condiments. All the bedrooms are en suite and come with really good quality linen and towels. We were six but it would have taken eight people very comfortably. You are also provided with enough outdoor and pool towels for everyone. The cool box is a nice touch so you can take keep drinks or snacks cool on trips out. There are candles everywhere if you like creating an atmosphere of peace and calm with those. Even the barbecue area is well thought out and stocked with everything you will need so you can fire up straight away. The hammock room - a covered veranda area with stunning views - is the perfect place for relaxation or massage / aromatherapy provided on site by Dimitra - a local and mobile therapist. And of course with a fridge for drinks too so you don't have to go all the way down stairs. Technology is all of a good standard - decent flat screen satellite TV, surround sound DVD, multi room Sonos system. But you'll be wasting the views if you spend your time watching the telly. Wifi reception is good on the ground floor - just over 3Mbps download and upload speeds. I think that's decent for the Greek islands - maybe a bit less than what you are used to if your teenagers expect simultaneous streaming. Hopefully they'll realise there's more to life and get outdoors into the jacuzzi or pool. The pool is deep in the octagonal part, with stairs in from the side. It's not large but good enough for splashing about. The hot tub is in a separate area of the garden, down some stairs, so creates a nice separate area if part of the group want to relax elsewhere. From this side you have a stunning view of the hills and valleys behind the villa. The pool deck also boasts a massive dining table in a covered area, and a separate outdoor sofa area with a gas fired fire table to put your feet around and watch the sea as the sun goes down, with a glass of wine. So to outside the villa - it's a 5 minute drive into the town - Nidri (the road is steep and winding up to the villa so car or scooter would be a must unless you want a tough walk in the heat). I wouldn't say it is sophisticated - Nidri is still a fairly sleepy town - but it has everything you should need - banks, pharmacy, reasonable small stores for groceries, bakers, butcher, fish monger, loads of tavernas, bars and a bit of nightlife. The beach at Nidri is not massive and its mostly shingle / pebble and our kids are still at the stage where they want a bit of sand castle action - but it was only about a 40 min drive to Kathisma on the west side of the island which offers a large coarse sand beach, easy parking if you're early and tavernas / showers etc close to the beach. The waves are quite large there. Occasionally there is a really big wave [ and it feels like you're being tossed about in a washing machine - so this might be a bit too much for smaller ones or less strong swimmers. Our kids (12 - strong swimmer and 7 - less so) loved that part, though. Steve allowed us to borrow his telescope (I don't know anything about this stuff but it looks high spec) and coached us so the kids were more fascinated by the stars, the rings of Saturn and the moon at night. Steve also skippers an excellent boat trip if you are up for those where he will show you local beaches, take you snorkelling and show you local wildlife. It makes a huge difference and it is a small extra cost to be looked after for the day considering what a knowledgeable and helpful local guide he is. Both Steve and Monica were always on hand when needed but they are also very discrete and thoughtful, plus the design of the villa means you are not overlooked at all, so you have complete privacy. If you are thinking of booking and have questions, or if you have already booked and want to make plans, I would recommend you email direct - the villa email is on their website. If I had done that, we could have been a bit more organised and prepared before we arrived. We would have carried less stuff (because the villa is stocked with more than you would expect) and we wouldn't necessarily have gone through a tour operator. We loved it and were already talking about how we can make it back on the journey to the airport. You can't get a better recommendation than that!

Steve, the owner of villa Octavius, took us on one of his Marine Adventures. It was an absolutely fantastic day. He took us out on a boat to visit the best snorkeling spots around Lefkas and other nearby islands, including a huge bat cave where the light shone through the sapphire water turning everything the light touched bright blue. Steve was incredibly knowledgeable about marine life especially octopi. It was a truly captivating and educational day. Highly recommended experience for anyone.

Myself, my partner and our one-year-old stayed at Villa Octavius for a week at the start of June. The house is beautiful - tastefully and luxuriously decorated yet unpretentious and homely. The pool and outdoor area are pristine. The views are stunning and the location is really convenient - easy drive from Preveza airport and close to the town of Nidri. Steve and Monica are exceptional hosts. Due to a fraught time at the airport, we'd left our little one's pushchair behind accidentally. Within five minutes of explaining our dilemma, Steve had procured one for us to borrow for the week - a life-saver! And on one day Steve took us out on a boat, finding shady beaches, good snorkelling spots, a baby octopus to play with and even some dolphins! The house is great for children - cot and highchair were supplied and Steve had toddler-proofed the outdoor area so ours couldn't escape (obviously there's still a pool so you can't just let them play outside alone). The hammock tower makes a great shady playroom. All the restaurants were really child-friendly too, though not everywhere had highchairs. In terms of temperatures for children - we went the first week of June and it reached 35C in full sun so we were grateful for the shaded areas at Villa Octavius. The taverna down the road is easy walking distance and serves great food. Nidri at a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive is full of nice places to eat and drink. If you don't want to go out, you can even get great restaurant food delivered straight to the villa. We're definitely considering going again and taking more people with us, although having Villa Octavius all to ourselves was really quite a treat.

The views stretch in all directions and the gardens are lush. It is close to town, but extremely quiet and private. Steve and Monica are excellent hosts who went well beyond the call of duty to make sure that all our needs were met. We will definitely return.

Gorgeous villa with stunning views over Nidri and the islands. Steve and Monica are the perfect hosts. The villa has absolutely everything one could need, including a lovely swimming pool and a jacuzzi. The highlight of the week by far was the boat trip with Steve and Monica which included a close encounter with an octopus, viewing a pod of dolphins, a trip into a massive cave where a Greek submarine used to hide during WW2, a stunning snorkel into a cave filled with bats and a wonderful lunch on the nearby island of Meganisi. The villa is walking distance (or a short scooter ride) from the town of Nidri which has everything one needs including restaurants and supermarkets. The villa is also close to a valley with a gorgeous waterfall at the end of a short walk. A short distance away is the stunning Desimi beach. Thank you Monica and Steve for the best holiday ever!

Luxury, privacy and immaculate beauty are what we found at Villa Octavius. Gracious hosts, Steve and Monica, went beyond the extra mile to make our stay as rewarding as possible. The world is your oyster, whether you wish to relax in the pristine pool, jacuzzi or hammock tower, or go out to explore waterfalls, islands, beaches and caves! We had the time of our lives! It truly is heaven on earth! I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Arrive as Octavius, leave as Augustus

We spent a week at the villa and we immediately realised upon arrival that a week will be too short. You are welcomed by a breathtaking view over Nidri, the crystal clear ocean and mountains in the distance. The villa is very tasteful and subtly decorated. The villa even has normal plumbing in which you can dispose toilet paper (something which is a rarity in Greece!). Drinking water is sourced from the mountain and is delicious. Steve and Monica made us feel very welcome and were the best hosts anyone can wish for. Among the amazing things we experienced whilst being guests at the villa was a boat trip which Steve took us on where we stopped at the surrounding islands for lunch and drinks, showed us an octopus up close and personal and we were welcomed by a pod of dolphins during our boat trip. Steve also showed us stars and planets with his huge telescope from the deck of the villa (we even saw the rings of Saturn!). From the villa, you are in walking distance of a beautiful waterfall and some of the most amazing restaurants situated on the beach. If you feel even more adventurous, rent a scooter for cheap and visit the wine farms situated not more than 15 min away. Villa Octavius is ideal to forget about the world and immerse yourself in absolute serenity. Among Greek visitors, people will be classified between those who stayed at Villa Octavius, and those who did not. We left with tears in our eyes, sad to say adieu to the villa and especially our hosts, but we were ready to found an empire.

We are a family of 5 along with partners who have over the last few years been fortunate enough to be able to enjoy several amazing holidays in both Europe and the Caribbean. That being said we have all agreed we have just had our best holiday EVER in the last week at Villa Octavius . We arrived in the dark so could not at that point fully appreciate the view - Steve and Monica met us and gave us a tour of the villa and as we were tired said they would show us anything else we could need during our stay the following day. We awoke to a panoramic view that was amazing and definitely distracted us from the books I had taken to read. It was also very much a case of the photographs do not show fully just how beautiful the villa and its grounds are and the absolute attention to details that have been taken in making it so beautiful. Also we had been left everything you could have required until we could go shopping including cold drinks, beers and wine and an amazing fruit basket which lasted all week ! Each bedroom had it's own character but all were lovely and spacious and the hammock tower with seating also makes the most of the views. We had an unforgettable day out in a boat where Steve took us around the islands ,swimming in caves , we stopped for a brilliant meal at a lovely restaurant and my daughter particularly liked handling the octopus he found to show us. All in all we have brought home many special memories from this week and cannot wait to go back which we have already arranged for next year.

We have just returned from our one week stay at Villa Octavius which we booked for 10 people for our wedding in Lefkada. I cannot possibly give a higher recommendation to Villa Octavius and it’s owners Steve and Monika who have hosting down to a fine art. Everything was perfect, from the beauty of the immaculately appointed villa, to the jaw-dropping views of Nidri and the surrounding areas which stretch for miles. The Villa has everything you could wish for and more. Particular highlights for us were the Hammock Tower, the wireless Sonos system which allows you to stream different music to different areas of the villa from your phone, the huge outside terrace with seating area, deep swimming pool, hot tub, braai bbq and fire pit. We were made to feel so welcome on arrival, with wedding bows on the front gates, a fridge pre-stocked with beers, wine, bubbles and water, a huge basket of fresh fruit and a guided tour of the villa and all of its intricacies. In addition to this there are so many little touches that add to the experience; a comprehensive list of food delivery and taxi services that serve the Villa, a very reasonably priced wine cabinet which supports local businesses by selling wine produced on the island and a ‘replace what you use’ mini bar. Steve uses a notice board system to attend to any questions or issues quickly without disturbance to your stay, it all just works so seamlessly and you feel at home immediately. We didn’t want to leave! Steve also offers bespoke snorkelling and star gazing amongst other tours/trips which we didn’t have time for on this occasion but would definitely consider for future visits. Thanks Steve and Monika for a wonderful stay and for providing a perfect location for our pre-wedding preparations, we will definitely be back.

The planting in the grounds has matured and we are more than ever noticing the fauna especially the humming-bird hawk moths busily feeding…

Breakfast on the terrace and afternoon swims in the pool have not lost their magic and now we have the addition of the magnificent new canopy over the fire pit area.
