The amazing location was the inspiration for these imposing modern buildings, perched on the crest of a hill, Anna Boutique Villas Rethymno have stunning views through the rugged Fratianos gorge to the azure Libyan sea beyond.

Designed and constructed by architect Stavros Polychronakis in 2009 the villas are surrounded by some of the best rural sceneries in the whole of Crete, sublime interior decor, clean to detail accommodation, and lovingly maintained gardens ensure an unforgettable holiday.  The Greek word Philoxenia translates as the love of strangers and nowhere is this demonstrated more clearly than at Anna Boutique Villas Rethymno where the Polychronakis family is dedicated to ensuring their guests (they prefer to be considered as friends) will have a really unique holiday.

There are two private, independent Villas each with its own private swimming pool, gardens, and barbecue area. The accommodation comprises the Ground floor: A large lounge/dining area, with dining table and chairs, comfortable lounge furniture. Fully equipped kitchen with cooking utensils and crockery, fridge/freezer, microwave etc. Toilet/shower room. First floor: Master bedroom with double bed. Second bedroom with twin beds Toilet/shower room. Outdoor: Private pool with sun deck and loungers. Patios at the front and rear Barbecue areas with fully equipped barbecues and private gardens

Particularly noteworthy is the location, the view of the countryside, the mountains to the sea. From the accommodation, you can easily reach Spili, Rethymno and Agia Galini. In the southwest of Agia Galini, there are wonderful beaches, and bays with crystal clear waters. The restaurants are excellent, and the appetizers unique. Near Mixorrouma there is a small supermarket with fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as a neighboring very tasty bakery. In the evening, the goats climb behind the house on the steep mountain slopes and walk right by the house, which is really interesting to watch.

SUMPTUOUS VILLA, MEMORABLE STAY

The welcome we received from Artemis was one of the warmest we have ever received — despite the fact we arrived two hours sooner than expected. The staff had not finished its turn over of the building and Artemis was so kind and even said "we will hurry" which made us feel incredibly special. Upon arrival a little bit past three, we had the occasion to speak with Artemis again at more length. She is totally lovely in every way, made us feel so special and provided information about the area, about the villa and told us to contact her for any reason. We were touched by her warmth and sincerity, she is a wonderful host, one of the best we have ever had in 12 years of visiting Greece! The villa is amazing — grandiose, a dazzling setting high up on a hill presiding over the valley and Sea of Crete between the mountains behind the villa. Upon entering we were absolutely delighted in every way — the windows drew our eyes in every direction and the furnishings were understated, comfortable with every comfort in mind. The kitchen was perfectly equipped with everything guests could possibly need to prepare meals, make coffee and generally provide snacks and breakfast. The bedrooms were immensely comfortable, the linens and towels were sumptuous and smelled beautifully. The mattress, pillows and blankets were excellent and the draperies allowed us to 'sleep in' on days when there were no early morning activities. The bathrooms were super, although they are considerably different to the American style bathroom but, for Greece, they were more than adequate. The pool was glorious and the deck, seating and plantings were fantastic. Due to bad weather almost the entire week we were there (high winds, very cool temperatures and power outage due to wind), we were unable to fully utilize the pool, no one's fault. The TV and Netflix and Amazon Prime were terrific and we greatly enjoyed this on nights we did not go into Splili for dinner and to explore the village. We greatly enjoyed the views from the rear patio through the gorge and down to the Sea of Crete and also the grazing flocks of sheep which were nearby almost every day. These sheep visits were incredibly fun and charming and, after a few days, we looked forward to the kindly shepherd and the sound of the bells around the sheeps' necks. The huge and remarkably convenient windows were a constant source of joy — whichever way one wants to create airflow or access, there is a way with these amazing windows. We felt like we were living in a glass house while the interior was always incredibly private! All around the villa are all manner of plantings — from herbs and flowers to figs and vines — these were amazing ... And we even found grape vines on the walkway from the rear patio to the pool. Overall, the villa truly felt "like home" to us. We have found that Unique Villas' properties exceed most of our expectations in style and location. All are well vetted and the process of booking is seamless. We had the good fortune to work with Petros Kyriakakis, the reservations manager. Petros was a delight to work with — provided exceptional information, reminders and was always available for questions. Unique Villas is certainly fortunate to have such a dedicated professional on its staff. We look forward to working with Petros again in 2022 as we plan our return again to Crete.
