Our group of 9 stayed in the Palace Villa (capacity: 14) and had an exceptional week. From Giorgos, our gracious host, to the immaculate pool, to the "Priest Cave" and kayaks available at the cliffs below -- it was a perfect, relaxing vacation for our family (adults and teen kids). The remote location made for a peaceful stay, and a 5-10 minute drive down to the tiny port town of Agios Nikolaos provided casual restaurants and a small grocery--we ended up eating there a couple of times a day during our stay (although it comes with a well equipped kitchen). The rooms were air-conditioned, though the weather was perfect and we rarely needed it. The walk down to the water is a good workout, but not too far. Morning swims were the best (avoids rougher seas and boat traffic), though the water was great all day. Giorgos was a great resource and helped with arranging a powerboat tour, car rental, transportation to/from the airport (not included). I can't say enough good things about this place. We will definitely be returning.

We were a family of 6 adults with 4 children, one of them being a 1 year old baby. After a long day travelling Giorgos and Dias his dog were there to greet us at Palace Villa and what an amazing villa it is, very well equipped, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, washing machine, coffee machine, etc. Nothing was too much trouble for Giorgos and he supplied us with wine, fruit etc. and we were able to pick grapes and other fruit very close to our villa. Being high up on the cliffs, the views are just to die for and the sunrises are just specular, we never failed to be impressed by them. It was very hot whilst we were there but there are shady areas around the large patio and infinity pool area if you want to get out of the sun at midday. We ate all our meals outside in the bamboo covered eating area just off the kitchen around the huge table with plenty of chairs. There are also plenty of bed chairs, pool towels and shower towels. The bedrooms all have wardrobes and plenty of drawer space and 4 of the bedrooms have en suite shower or bathrooms. We found the large beds very comfy and all the bedrooms have very efficient air conditioning. 3 of the bedrooms upstairs have access onto a large balcony area, again with amazing views. There was a cot and high chair ready for the baby. There is a big television, dvd, stereo etc. The kids (and adults!) really enjoyed the substantial hammock on the patio. There are also fresh water showers on the patio. There is an excellent barbecue with charcoal provided and we had barbecues each night apart from one where we dined out in a beachside restaurant in the nearby village where there are shops, petrol station, etc. Boats also run various excursions from here. From the villa there is a steep climb down the cliffs with path and steps, perhaps not recommended for very young children or older people and I would recommend rubber sole shoes (splashers I think they are called) for some grip. However once down there the sea is very inviting but unless you jump in off the platform getting in the water was a touch tricky but again rubber sole shoes were extremely useful - just watch out for the wash of the tourist boats as they go by viewing the caves. The snorkelling was very good and there is a Priest Hole you can climb down into one of the caves where the kayaks are kept. Masks, snorkels and fins are available at the villa. I cannot empathise enough the views from this villa, they will keep us going all winter! There are 6 villas in all but they are all well spaced out. Dias the dog was always lying about on the patio and never once tried to get into the villa, he was an extremely friendly, laid back dog until his lady friend came visiting and then he suddenly perked up! The towels and beds were changed half way through our week and the front patio was regularly swept. The dustbin was emptied regularly too. The wi fi worked better by the pool than indoors. All in all it was a wonderful week and I can thoroughly recommend Palace Villa, we were very sad to leave.

My family and I have recently returned from two weeks staying at Blue Caves Viilas. We are seasoned Greek-villa travellers, and can honestly say that these villas were the very best we have ever experienced. We spent our first week in Villa Palace with our extended family (12 of us in total). The villa is ideally designed for a large group of people, plenty of privacy and quiet areas to escape to if you should need it, but masses of comfortable seating areas for everyone to be together. The pool is enormous and spotlessly clean, and there are sun loungers for everyone. There is also plenty of shade to escape to in the heat of the day. There is a wonderful outside eating area, under a bamboo canopy, together with a massive barbecue (charcoal provided). The villa is made of beautiful stone which compliments the natural beauty of the area, and is surrounded by vineyards and fig trees and oleanders in abundance. The villa looks out over the mesmerising Ionian sea, with views of Cephalonia across the water, and the mainland in the far distance. We (just the four of us) moved to Villa Fantasia for our second week, a short (one minute) walk up the hill. Another stunning villa with an exceptionally high spec, immaculately clean and beautifully presented. Whilst the view in Villa Palace was utterly stunning, I found the view from Fantasia to be even more breathtaking, perhaps the difference being that we were slightly higher up the hillside. The deep blue sea, the cloudless skies, the shimmer of the swimming pool, the vineyards and olive groves, Cephalonia in the background......well I could look at that view for ever. In addition it is worth pointing out the peace and quiet that surrounds you, it really is an exceptionally peaceful and tranquil part of the island/world. None of the villas (there are six in total) are too close to one another, and you certainly have the feeling of total privacy. I can imagine that it would be a wonderful location for a large gathering (wedding party etc) - I believe that between the six villas there are about 50 beds. There is a steepish walk down to the sea beneath the villas, with a couple of kayaks moored for the villa residents to use. We had a lot of fun with these kayaks, in particular paddling along the coast in the direction of Agios Nikolaos where my mad family jumped off the rocks time and time again (the jumps getting higher and higher each time). I preferred to sit in the kayak and act as official photographer! No review would be complete without mentioning the owner of the villas, Giorgos, who is the most hospitable and enchanting host we have ever come across. On arrival he met us in the neighbouring village (Agios Nikolaos) and showed us the way up to the villas. He then poured us a welcoming glass of homemade wine, and explained all we needed to know about the villas and the surrounding area. He gave us fresh oranges, lemons, tomatoes, aubergines, figs, onions, olive oil, oregano, pear jam (the list goes on) throughout our stay. He popped in to see us every few days, his visits were always welcome and never intrusive. A truly charming man. Giorgos has a completely gorgeous golden retriever called Dias who came to visit us pretty much on a daily basis at both villas. A wonderfully gentle old dog who you cannot fail to fall in love with. Our booking process was extremely efficiently managed by Giorgos's assistant, Monika. She was exceptionally speedy at replying to emails and confirming when our payments had reached their bank account etc. The maid service was also extremely good with fresh linen midway through the week, and the whole villas being spotlessly clean. All in all a top quality team. Thank you Blue Caves Villas for our perfect holiday. Memories which will last a life time. Read less

Our family (2 children, 5 adults) arrived at Palace villa and were warmly welcomed by the owner who provided wine, olives and fruit. The children were excited to try out the pool and Jacuzzi and immediately jumped in. Although they were a little cold (not heated) they were good depths for children of most ages. The bedrooms are all lovely and provide plenty of storage and functional shower rooms (a couple had baths). The double bed mattresses were a little hard but this is personal preference and so if this is your thing then you will sleep well. Kitchen is well stocked with appliances and utensils. Absolutely beautiful very large outside dining table near to the impressive bbq. The boys were in heaven. The surrounding area is well landscaped and provides nice views of vine and olive trees. The walk down to the caves is quite treacherous and steep. I would not recommend it for children. However, it is quite a way from the villa so not worrying in terms of proximity. The location is quiet and calming with unspoilt views out to sea and across to Kefalonia. There is a small canopied terrace in the gardens where I was able to practice some yoga in peace and quiet. There is wifi but it's not that reliable and only available in some parts of the villa. The village (Agios Nikolaos) is a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk where there are cafes, restaurants and small supermarkets offering most essentials. The owner is very helpful and provides a great balance of accessibility whilst not be over bearing. My family and I loved our week at Blue Caves Villas and would highly recommend it.

Blue Cave Villas is fantastic. I stayed in the Villa Palace as a group of 10 and none of us were disappointed. The views from the villa are amazing and the villa itself is faultless. The only issue we had was with the showers but the owner, Giorgos who is also very friendly and a lovely man, sorted this out for us without any trouble. The villas are situated on the quieter, northern side of the island, but there is a little harbour town of Agios Nicolas where there are several restaurants and a few shops. You can also get several boat trips and the ferry from here to Kefalonia. I cant leave a review without mentioning the two gorgeous dogs which we all fell in love with. Diaz & Apollo were an added bonus and are some of the nicest dogs i've ever met. If they could fit in my suitcase then I would have taken them in a heartbeat. If I was to say anything negative about this villa it is although there is free WiFi, the signal isn't great but do you ready need it when your on holiday? Overall, if your looking for a relaxing holiday with great views and a villa with great facilities then look no further. I cant recommend this place enough and i've no doubt we will return one day.

This was our 2nd stay in Villa Palace and it was simply as fantastic as our first. After bringing my mum and dad for my mums birthday last year, we returned with more of our family this year. Again, breathtaking views greeted us every morning and the weather stayed clear all week which made it even better. We loved living like the Greeks do, so most nights we sat as a family around the large table and ate, drank and laughed until the early hours. Giorgos, the owner and a fantastic host always had some of his home made wine to hand or fresh fruit and vegetables from his garden, which were very much appreciated. On our first night after a long day of travelling, Giorgos arranged for the local taverna to bring us beautiful food so we didn't have to worry about cooking. Nothing is ever too much for him and if there is anything you need, he will do everything he can to make it happen. He confirmed for us the time that the Ferry left from the local harbour to Kefalonia, which was a lovely day trip, and only just over an hour boat journey. My now 3 year old daughter, was looking forward to seeing Dias, Giorgos's beautiful golden retriever, who for the week became part of our family once again. Not only did he take us down to the sea every day, joining us swimming and kayaking in the villas kayaks, but he also joined us on our beautiful walks to nearby attractions along the amazing coastline that sits on the doorstep of Blue Cave Villas. When we did have a small problem with plumbing in the villa, it was fixed by the end of the day. I note that someone has mentioned that the villa was only cleaned once all week. I struggle to see the problem here. It is not a hotel and the villa that we stayed in was spotless. I would not want cleaners in cleaning every day. It defeats the purpose of hiring a villa! Once is certainly enough. I tend to travel to numerous places throughout the year, but again, I will return to Blue Cave Villas next year as it is one of those special places that we have found that we would miss if we didn't return.
