In front of Imerovigli, there is a huge rock called Scaros. On top of it, there is a 13th-century castle which in the past housed all the administrative offices of the island. This part of the island though collapsed after a strong earthquake, and only the hill of Scaros remained. Imerovigli has numerous chapels and churches to display built on the rocks and overlooking the sea. The village is famed to be the ultimate romantic destination.
