No matter what I say about Santorini, it won't go anywhere near describing this absolute gem, but I'll give it a try. We booked for five days, but I wish it had been five weeks, months or years. Firstly, the hosts, Heidi and Wynand, are just perfect for their roles. They are so attentive and informative about Santorini and the area. They really look after you and make you feel so special. Santorini is the best managed place we have ever been. Everything has been thought of. There were four of us and we stayed in the Villa Da Praia. We were gobsmacked when we saw the place. It is truly fabulous. Very spacious, luxurious and comfortable. The view from the villa is so very beautiful and totally unspoiled. Watching the fishermen bringing in their nets each morning was lovely. We were looked after for meals in the villa by a true gentleman Fernando. His little touches like different place settings, napkin folding and little messages written into the butter were so lovely and we looked forward to what he would do next! The food is outstanding and so well thought out. Our chef was just amazing. Great quality wines too. We were celebrating our Pearl wedding anniversary and Heidi organised a special candlelit dinner in the courtyard for us. It was so romantic and very much appreciated. Another time, she organised lunch for us in the vegetable garden which was also great. We all went on the day boat trip which we upgraded so we could go to Bazaruto Island and then go to see the whales. Unfortunately after the snorkelling reef (which was amazingly great), it got a bit rough and my husband doesn't have sea legs, got seasick, so we just turned around and went for lunch to the most beautiful island with fantastic sand dunes. We didn't see the whales, but did see two dugongs really close up!! A magical day. Don't miss it. My husband and my friend had full spa massage treatments and both said it was the best massage they had ever had. My 15 min hand massage was also lovely. It's the little touches like chocolates on the bed, little notes left in your room about the culture, the smiles and waves from the staff, and we loved the little bottle of sand they give you to take home so you remember how it felt to walk on the beach, all make your stay so wonderful. This place really is paradise in a beautiful unspoiled area in Mozambique and we really can't wait to return. The staff and Heidi came to say goodbye to us all and I did something I have never done anywhere else - I cried. I was so emotional leaving. If you possibly can, do yourself a favour, and visit this place. I promise you won't ever regret it and you will have exquisite memories forever

I have never felt more special or pampered in my life! We stayed at Villa Santorini after safari, at the tail end of our honeymoon. We expected it to be nice, but we were overwhelmed by how far it exceeded our expectations. There are many surprises that I won't share here in an effort to keep the next guests as surprised as we were, but just know that Heidi and the rest of the staff at Santorini pay attention to detail and know how to make you feel special and like a part of their family during the time you are at the villa. Lorenco was our kind and attentive attendant, and he also made our stay incredible. We couldn't have dreamt of a better person to look after us during our stay! Your wine glass will stay full and your heart will stay happy here. Also, the included tours are wonderful, as well. We especially loved the boat tour. We were hesitant at first because we wanted to relax, but DO IT! Can't wait to come back to celebrate an anniversary one year!

This is as near as you can get to staying in your own private villa and not to have to cook, clean etc yourself, without actually owning such a villa. It is the best hotel experience you can have. Villa Santorini offers a restful, stress free enviroment to relax in, whilst delivering excellent service & great quality food. Activities such as catamaran trips, hourse riding, water sports are available or you can just chill out. The snorkelling trip to the coral reef followed by a beach picnic is a must (thanks Palino). Norman the Manager made us welcome and gave us a guided tour including the amazing vegtable garden. The two Sergio's looked after our every whim, serving our meals and drinks. A great way to finish our Africa experience which started with a safari.

My wife and I went to Africa for our honeymoon and after a somewhat busy week in Cape Town and a safari in the Sabi Sands, we arrived at Santorini Mozambique for a few days of rest and relaxation. We could not have picked a better place to stay. From the very start of our arrival in Vilakulos, the staff at Santorini Mozambique made sure we had every possible thing we needed or wanted. We were greeted by a member of the staff at the airport and provided a cool, scented towel to refresh ourselves, as well as cold water for our quick drive to Santorini. Upon arrival at Santorini, we were again greeted by the staff and one of the managers, Lucy. She was so friendly and welcoming and we were given delicious fruit flavored welcome drinks. The main villa itself is truly beautiful. As someone who has visited the Greek Islands, you immediately feel as though you are off the coast of the Mediterranean with the decor and ambiance of the establishment. That being said, the stunning views of the Indian Ocean and open set up of the villa are just as gorgeous as the views in Greece. You can immediately tell how much detail has been given to every aspect of the space, from the furniture to the music to the little touches of decor. Fernando was the main staffer who took care of us, and he was such a delight. He was so accommodating, attentive, and just a pleasure to be around. Our room was beautiful- especially the balcony and its views of the ocean. Each morning a tray of coffee and biscuits was outside our room. Fernando would always ask us when we would like to eat breakfast, which was always in a different location of the space, but always impeccably decorated and personalized. Every single meal was delicious and fresh, with wonderful flavors and fresh ingredients, and absolutely gorgeous presentation. During the day, we relaxed by the pool with drinks, or went down to the beach to read in a cabana. Fernando would send down a cooler filled with whatever drinks we wanted- beer, wine, soda, water, etc. We asked to eat lunch on the beach one day and the staff set up a table for us and brought down our wood oven pizza, which of course, was delicious. We decided to take the boat trip to Bazaruto Island and go snorkeling at Two Mile Reef. On the way to the island we saw dolphins and then the snorkeling was like swimming in an aquarium. The two staff members that went with us, Ignacio and Giorgio, were wonderful. When they set up our lunch on the island, Ignacio took the time to ensure each container of food was perfectly spaced- such a simple thing, but it really captures the level of service every member of the staff strives for. We utilized the complimentary laundry service and received our clean clothes back perfectly folded in a wooden basket. Each night after returning to our room after dinner, our room would be turned down by a staff member. Heidi and Wynand, the GMs, were so friendly and always said hello to us to ensure we had everything we needed and we even got to spend some time with Wynand on our last night while drinking wine at the upstairs bar. One of the loveliest touches was the staff giving us a personalized gift- a frame made of old parts of a boat with one of our wedding photos. For anyone visiting Africa and looking for a place to relax, I could not recommend a better place. My wife and I cannot wait to return- hopefully for a longer stay next time. Thank you again to the wonderful staff at Santorini for making our stay so perfect and memorable.

Where to even start... transferred from our first accommodation spot to Santorini by welcoming host/villa manager, Norman. We received cold scented face cloths to cool down on the short trip to the villa, all the while chatting and learning interesting things about our surrounds. On arrival at Santorini we were greeted by smiling staff, refreshing fruit juice cocktails & Lucy, who took us through the check in process - which is quick and seamless yet thorough and informative. We had a “host” for the duration of our stay, Fernando, what an AMAZING person and we were so fortunate to be so spoiled by him at meal times - always dining in a different spot around the villa, small details like remembering what we wanted to drink, little notes written into the butter at dinner, the fun napkin art etc. The rooms are gorgeous, stunning views, decor, linen & accents everywhere you look. The little touches i.e notes, chocolates on our pillow, flowers in the room, welcome package from the co-managing couple (Norman & Lucy) and staff were always much appreciated and we will take those memories (and the little bottle of sand) with us when we leave! The beach is lovely, beautiful to explore at low tide. The non motorized water sports were loads of fun, and Wynand arranged for the boat house to be opened early so we could go stand up paddling before the wind picked up. We did a sunset Dhow cruise with Georgio and Inacio - what entertaining and good people! They were accommodating when we wanted to jump into the sea to cool off, Inacio kept the cold drinks flowing on our cruise, and the kitchen had provided some delicious snacks for us. Ah activity that is well worth it and really special! Overall, aside from the gorgeous views, amazing staff and luxurious accommodation, it's really the little details that made our time at Santorini so memorable. Thank you for having us and we will be back!

This is my second visit - mind blowing. Its perfect with amazing attention to detail, fantastic staff and the food is first class. We stayed as an extended family and were able to spend vital time together with all our needs met but service never being intrusive. Due to the careful design and accommodation options this Santorini is just as suitable for honeymooners as it is for friends wanting to stay somewhere amazing to recharge after a safari. You get all the views (or actually better) of staying on the islands with out some of the faff. The lodge os open and breezy with many nooks and crannies to eat in, sip a drink or read a book. Great boats for trips to the islands, we saw several pods of dolphins each day, a large ray and beautiful flamingos. Snorkelling was like bing in a fish tank and suitable for the kids too (7 & 10). I have been involved in Mozambique for over 20 years. For me this is the best option in Mozambique. It's an amazing testament to what tourism can do for development given that more than 40 families are directly supported by this boutique Villa. Very very sad to be leaving but hope to be back.

Obrigada!!

This hotel was our final stop, after spending two weeks in South Africa. We couldn't have loved our time at Santorini any more than we did. We felt special and valued from the minute we got picked up at the airport, to when we arrived at the hotel to be greeted by 6 smiling faces, offering us luxuries like cool towels and mojitos! It was like a dream. The house is magnificent, perched high above the sea. It's especially dramatic to see the tides change----at low tide you can walk way far out to explore. Then the tide comes back in and it's sparkling blue water all around. Our room was GORGEOUS (as they all are)----beautiful, airy and light, with linen bedding and white gauzy dreamy mosquito netting around the bed that just adds more romance to the room. The co-managers, Norman and Lucy, are incredibly wonderful----friendly, engaging and vivacious. They run the property extremely well, but they make it all look effortless. Every person we encountered during our 5 days there was amazing, from Boa who was our wonderful waiter with a huge smile, to Inacio who we spent a day with as he took us around in the boat to the reef for snorkeling, and then to the dunes to explore and lunch. All meals are included, and they were fantastic. The choices were varied and interesting. Each dish was presented beautifully and delicious. You will not go hungry here. We loved every minute as this amazing place. We each got short massages by Elizabeth who was wonderful. The snorkeling on the nearby reef was really good (saw my first purple starfish), and the dunes were possibly the highlight for me. I can't recommend this place any more highly. It is perfection.

This might be hard to believe but the website understates Santorini. The villa we stayed in was stunning. We can’t think of any way of improving it. Details like the bath on a plinth so you lie at eye level to the sea view confirm how much thought has gone into Santorini. If we wanted to build a villa, this is exactly how we would build it. Spacious, luxurious, spotless, all mod cons, spectacular views, private, inside and outside eating areas, gorgeous infinity pool. Santorini has thought of everything. The villa is set up for the sunrise, facing east, you need to go to the main villa to catch sun later in the day. Your villa host will be with you for as little or as long as you want. The service is both discrete and exceptional. Sergio deserves a special mention for how well he looked after our family of 5. The team at Santorini are always one step ahead of you, making sure everything you need is there before you. Even when you go on excursions, they know exactly when you will be back and your favourite drink will be waiting for you. At each meal, we found a brief message and often a drawing inscribed in the butter relating to what we were doing that day! The food was also of a high standard. Your fridge will be stocked with inclusive wines, beers, soft drinks and spirits are on the shelves. You can entertain yourselves happily or your host will look after you. There is also a comprehensive wine list if you would like something different but we found the inclusive wines perfectly good. The villa is set above the beach giving uninterrupted breathtaking views across to the archipelago. You can watch the sun come up and you can watch the local fishermen and women taking in their nets. You won’t see many motor boats but you will see many dhows and rowing boats, such is the unspoiled beauty. Although the villa is situated above the beach, it is only a very short walk down and back. The staff will anticipate you going to the beach and will have beds and towels, and anything else you need waiting for you. We didn’t see one other tourist on the beach. Just local fishermen. The water is warm and shallow so excellent for a dip but don't expect to be snorkelling as it is sandy bottom all the way to the distant islands. We did a few excursions. Santorini has a beautiful catamaran and we went for picnics on the deserted island beaches and we went snorkelling. April is a poor time of year for visibility. The end of the summer means a build up of plankton. We could probably see 10m, when in winter it improves to 25m. 2m reef is where everyone seems to go so it feels a bit busy, boats feel like they get too close to snorkellers and the reef looks like it has had a bit of rough treatment over the years. It is protected now so it should improve. I think it would be better if boats had to moor at the edge of the area, leaving the reef for snorkellers to enjoy. There was a good variety of fish so it was worth going but overall the snorkelling experience was average. It is also about an hour from the resort on a boat so snorkelling can only be done as part of an organised trip. We also went fishing. We set out at 5.30am and because the fishing is beyond the reef, it is about an hour before you get the lines out. We trawled for over 7 hours before the line went tight and we had one tuna and one gall ? fish for our trip. There was excitement when we hooked a second tuna and it was taken by a shark never to be seen again! The sun is severe and there is a decent swell so this was really hard going and I am a keen fisherman! I haven’t worked out if the area is overfished or we were unlucky - information is hard to come by. So thanks to all the team at Santorini, especially Norman & Lucy, Wynand and Heidi and Sergio. All fantastic hosts who absolutely go the extra mile to make your stay a memorable one. We would happily recommend Santorini to anyone looking to get away from it all in Mozambique. It is a very special place.
